John o' donovan, born

July 9th , 1809

Dr. John O’Donovan born 1809 at Atateemore north of Slieverue he got his early education in Waterford City. O’Donovan edited the Annals of the Four Masters and heavily involved with the Ordnance Survey in 1840.

He wrote “Loch-Dachaech” was the ancient name for Waterford Harbour.

He was responsible for researching place names for the 1840 Ordanance Survey the first complete translation of the Annals of the Four Masters.
